INCI name: Palmitoyl Tripeptide-36
Most atopic dermatitis (AD) patients show much more colonization of
Staphylococcus aureus (
S. aureus) than healthy subjects on the skin. Over the half of
S.aureus strains isolated from AD skin exhibit the secretion of superantigenic toxins, including staphylococcal enterotoxins A and B. Staphylcocal superantigens are potent toxins produced by particular strains of
S. aureus. This toxin plays a leading role in the pathogenesis and inflammatory responses in AD.
DermaPep™ M330, a broad-spectrum antimicrobial peptide, shows a powerful inhibitory activity on
S. aureus as well as other bacteria, fungi and mold and helps to protect the skin of AD patients from further microbial attacks.
In addition, comparison study with other currently used preservatives shows that DermaPep™ M330 can be a powerful substitute where no toxic preservation system is required.

MIC (Minimum Inhibitory Concentration) TEST
MIC is the lowest concentration of antimicrobial peptide that inhibits >90% growth of a bacterium
in vitro. It is used to determine inhibitory effect of preservative against microorganisms.
